  1. Dallas Center - Grimes Key Club

Key Club is a service leadership organization that focuses on bettering our community and world. We do fundraisers for nonprofit organizations (ie: UNICEF, Thirst Project, Meals from the Heartland), and we also do service projects throughout the school year. Some of the service projects we do are making fleece blankets for Mercy Children's Hospital, making holiday cards for Kennybrook Village and Spurgeon Manor residents, ringing the bell at the red kettle for Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign (at Fareway in Grimes), packaging meals for the Meals from the Heartland Grimes Hunger Fight, and volunteering at Kiwanis Miracle League in Des Moines. We also help organize and run the games at the Kiwanis Easter Eggstravaganza.

  2. Dallas Center-Grimes High School Silver Cord

The Dallas Center-Grimes High School Silver Cord program allows students to track the amount of service hours they provide so they can be honored with a silver cord of recognition at graduation. Students must have 160 volunteer hours of service from 8th through12th grade for this recognition. We post both school and community events for students to serve and help them get connected to serve in this community!

  3. Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA)

FOFA is the Dallas Center-Grimes schools fine arts booster club. We are an all-volunteer-ran non-profit organization that supports the DCG kids and their love of the arts. Choir, band, art, speech, and theater all benefit from the time and money donated by parents and community members. We are always looking for new members, committee members, and volunteers. The volunteer needs vary from a simple time slot on a specific date or event, to being on a planning committee for a month or so to plan a task/event to being on the board becoming an officer. The choice is yours and we are grateful for any amount of time. Get connected and get involved. You'll be glad you did!

  1. Grimes Storehouse

The Grimes Storehouse is a community pantry that feeds the whole person. The Storehouse is not the work of one group but a collaboration between many churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals open to faith-based partnerships. As a Christian, faith-based pantry we believe every person we serve is created and loved by God. It is our goal to provide resources for those living with food insecurity in a way that affirms their dignity and worth so that those who are food insecure will come to the Storehouse for their physical need and leave empowered, both physically and spiritually, to live abundantly. We will accomplish this in the present by providing food and personal hygiene items and in the future by offering other resources for holistic healing and empowerment such as life-skills training, cooking classes, parenting support, financial planning, and a free medical clinic.
