The Human Resources Department is responsible for hiring, contract negotiation, benefits, compensation, and job postings.

Marketing & Communications

The Marketing & Communications Department drives community outreach, media relations and marketing for all City departments.

Fire

The Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department covers the City of Grimes as well as the City of Johnston

Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department creates recreational opportunities for growth and enhancement by developing services and programs that promote citizen involvement and a strong sense of community.

Information Technology

The City of Grimes IT Department provides internal IT support and serves the City’s employees with technical assistance to ensure that residents receive the best customer experience.

Library

The Grimes Public Library is a comfortable and productive place to connect with the community in person and online.

Police

The City of Grimes contracts law enforcement through the Polk County Sheriff's office.

Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and improving all city infrastructure, community property, greenways and parks.

Utility Billing

The Utility Bill Department assists residents and businesses with starting, transferring, or discontinuing service as well as billing and payment services.
