The Gingerbread House in Grimes is a magical holiday site that delights children of all ages. Tens of thousands of lights illuminate the two-story Victorian home of the Bob Jordan family at 200 N. Main Street in Grimes. Visitors are encouraged to get out of their cars and walk on the path around the house to see everything, including the large snow globe and hundreds of lighted decorations. The display is featured from dark to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and until 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday through Jan. 1. Santa and Mrs. Claus are expected to be at the Gingerbread House on Sunday nights throughout December between 6 and 9 p.m.
Mr. Jordan has featured the display for the past 14 years. Again this year, Mr. Jordan has identified Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) as the organization to receive any donations from visitors. Special Olympics Iowa is a nonprofit organization serving Iowans with intellectual disabilities for 40 years, and provides training and competitions in 22 sports for more than 13,000 athletes representing each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
