GRIMES COMMUNITY COMPLEX- (410 SE Main St, 515-986-2143)
Constructed over the course of a twenty year period beginning in 1940, the center originally housed Grimes Elementary and Middle School. The building re-opened in the Summer of 2006 and owned by the City, has over 35,000 square feet, divided between recreational and community activity spaces, including a gym, fitness facilities, banquet hall, meeting rooms, park and recreation department offices, and a full-service kitchen. Please stop in and take a look during facility hours.

RESERVING THE GCC-
To reserve certain areas of the Grimes Community Complex, please email Brett Barber, Grimes Parks and Rec Director, at bbarber@ci.grimes.ia.us or you can also call the Grimes Parks and Recreation Office at 515-986-2143 to check on availability. A security access card is required to purchase or have activated to enter the building at times outside of our normal business hours only.
Gym: Remodeled Summer 2008, Has two adjustable baskets with bleachers and sports balls. Baseball and softball teams must use softi-balls, no real balls/bats allowed. Non-marking tennis shoes required. Can only reserve up to 3 months in advance.

Kitchen & Cafeteria: Holds up to 60 people, 42” screen TV, 60” round tables and serving space for food and drinks. Full-size kitchen includes deep freezer, coffee pots, microwaves, 2 stoves and full-size refrigerator. Utensils and paper products not available. This kitchen is not a licensed commercial kitchen so stoves can only be used for warming things up and they are not able to cook with grease or oil.

Banquet Hall: Located in the NW part of the facility. Holds up to 175 standing, 120 people sitting in chairs, 85 sitting at round tables. Has sound system, microphone, big screen & projector, refrigerator, sink, and 175 padded chairs. Alcohol is allowed in this room only, with additional fees for a security officer, and extra deposit.

Room #400: Newly remodeled in January 2010, located in the north central part of the facility. Holds around
40 people with a TV, and storage space with tables and chairs.
Room #102: Located across from the batting cages on the south side of the facility. Holds 40-50 people.
Meeting Rooms 106 & 107: Holds up to 30 in each room. Located in the SW corner of the facility.

Multi-Purpose Room #302: Smaller room (used to be old teacher's lounge) that holds up to 15 people by gym. Has 2 restrooms and an area to meet for smaller parties.
Batting Cage: Located on south side of facility. Adults must supervise those using the cage at all times
