Clerk - Part time:

The Grimes Public Library is currently taking applications for Circulation Clerk. This is a part-time position with approximately 10-20 hours per week at $9/hour. The position is primarily evening and weekend hours with the possibility of additional subbing hours. Responsibilities include checking materials in and out, assisting customers with the library catalog and locating materials, issuing new library cards, providing basic computer hardware and software assistance, answering reference questions, and providing reader's advisory service. This job requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to pay close attention to detail, and knowledge of library databases and online library systems. Minimum requirements are high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with the public. Public library experience is preferred. Grimes Fire/EMS Department

Firefighter/Paramedic (Full Time): Starting Annual Salary is $45,028

The cities of Grimes and Johnston are currently accepting applications for full-time Firefighter / Paramedics. Applicants must possess a valid Iowa driver's license. Minimum requirements are certification as an Iowa or National Firefighter I (Firefighter II preferred), Hazardous Materials Operations and Emergency Medical Services certification as an Iowa EMT-PM or NREMT-P. (Students currently enrolled in a paramedic class may apply and challenge the exams, but must possess the above certifications at time of job offer, to be considered for employment

A physical ability test and written exams for both Fire & EMS are required for the position. Must be at least 18 years old, but less than 65 years old to apply. Exam information, including location, date and time will be mailed to qualified applicants. Each city offers an excellent wage and benefit package.

Individuals interested in applying must submit an employment application with copies of current certifications by 4pm on Friday, May 22 to: Grimes Fire & Rescue, 101 NE Harvey ST, Grimes, IA 50111, or Johnston Fire Department, 6373 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, IA 50131. Successful completion of post-offer criminal background screening, drug test, and physical required for all positions.

Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic (paid on-call):

The Grimes Fire Department is accepting applications for paid-on-call staff. The department seeks individuals already possessing Iowa or National Fire Certifications and/or EMS Certifications, but will train individuals wanting to work in a paid-on-call role. Grimes residency is required.

Compensation is competitive, depending on qualifications. Applicants must possess a valid Iowa driver's license, be at least 18 years of age, and be able to successfully complete a criminal history background check. The Grimes Fire Department also requires a doctor's release stating members are physically qualified to participate in fire fighting/EMS activities.
